DON'T SPEAK
(Recap by Liza)

This week's reality episode showcased a PR/media clinic that made most of the rockers uncomfortable with the hard-hitting questions, but one rocker in particular got just a little too comfortable and hit her fellow rockers hard with her words.

The show starts with the obligatory toast to last week's departed rocker - Zayra Alvarez. Ryan Star notes that it sucks that she's gone because "she was the one girl here that really brought a life to the house." Dilana says that Zayra doing an original was "ballsy" because it "undresses you" and tells people about who you are. To which I smirk because doing an original would be most ballsy for Dilana since her last songwriting effort produced masterpiece lyrics such as "bring your lotion and your thong."

Toby Rand also leads a toast to Dilana for her performance with Supernova, and Storm Large calls her the frontwoman of Supernova. Storm was not sold on the song at first, but after hearing them with Dilana, she wants to sing with them as well. Dilana interviews that this was the world debut of the band, and she can't imagine anyone else singing with the band. Ryan is also toasted for the encore, and Toby celebrates by smashing cake in his face. Ryan fakes crying.

The next day, the rockers go through a press junket. In a surreal experience, Mark Long of Road Rules fame interviews Lukas Rossi and asks if he was a fan of the Supernova guys growing up. Lukas says he had sex for the first time to a Metallica song, and Mark replies that his was New Edition. A little TMI there, Mark!

Jamie White of Star 98.7 is the toughest interview by far. "People were limping out of there," Storm says. What a shock; Jamie's a real witch on her morning show. First she says to Storm, "There's nothing that makes me go 'Dammit, that's the girl!'" I'm not sure how you're supposed to respond to that. Then Jamie tells Toby that he's not all "tatted out", and when he asks her how many tattoos she has, she replies that this isn't about her, it's about him. Jamie asks Magni who he thinks said didn't like him, and he says, "You're mean!", calls a time out, tells her "Easy, woman, easy!" and makes cat noises a la Austin Powers. Ha!

As Ryan is getting railroaded by Jamie, Jason Newsted skulks in, and Ryan notices him out of the corner of his eye, which no doubt changes what he really wanted to say about if Dilana has the edge. Jason also lurks behind Lukas' interview, who is asked by In Touch magazine if anyone is faking it and not being true to themselves. Lukas says "I don't want to dog anyone".

Dilana miserably fails the interview test, basically calling everyone out and selling herself as the only true option of the band. She tells Kevin from In Touch that not everyone's heart and mind is as set on this job as hers is, citing Toby and Magni in particular. Then she proceeds to tell Kevin that Storm and Ryan hated the Supernova song and that Patrice Pike should not be here. Jason interviews that when you talk negatively in the press about someone, there will be repercussions. (There better be. If Dilana continues to be portrayed as just shy of sainthood on the live shows, they might as well just call the competition off and give her the gig. - Tammy) Dilana tells Jamie that she wants to strangle Lukas at one point every day and that every hour he's a different person.

Jamie, of course, goes back to Lukas with that information, and Lukas tells her to tell Dilana to mind her own business. Jamie continues to tell Lukas that he was the one most talked about as far as being difficult to deal with and then says he's being a "*$!&" with her, and Lukas interviews that he wanted to get up, walk away and tell her to go "*&$!" herself. (You could tell that Lukas was really restraining himself during this interview...kudos to him for not taking the bait. Which deeply saddened Mark Burnett, I'm sure. Measured responses do not for good teevee make. -Tammy) Trust me, Lukas, many of us who have listened to her feel the same way. I once heard her call these two kids of some celebrity or another "fat *****". HATE!

Toby finds the songs, which included two originals and "Every Breath You Take". Ryan, Toby and Storm want the originals. Toby argues for it saying that his song "&#!ing rocks". Ryan counters by saying his mom loves it. Ha! Storm only wants to do the original. She hasn't fought yet for it, and she will put gloves on and will fight for it. Ryan does not want to box for it; he's never hit a girl and his life, and he's not going to now. Magni thinks that Patrice should get the original because she's been in the bottom 3 several times now and "she's earned it." Huh? How is that earning it? You suck, the voters don't like you so you should get to do the song that everyone wants to do and that could put you above all else? (I think the rockers all knew that Patrice would most likely be leaving this week, and sort of 'gifted' it to her as a result, operating under the assumption that there would be time in future weeks for them to do an original. A nice move, but stupid. It's a COMPETITION! It would be all sorts of hilarious if Patrice made it another week and one of the overly confident rockers were given the boot. Also: Dilana didn't really seem to be putting up much of a fight to sing an original. I wonder why...oh wait. ThongGate. Heh. -Tammy)

Ryan theorizes that no one really wants to do the original song ("They're scared," he says) but they're just fronting like they do because it looks bad if they don't. Storm changes her tune when she notices "Cryin'" by Aerosmith is one nobody wants. She picks it as a "Screw you; I can sing anything. I don't need to do the original" type of song. So with Storm picking that song, Ryan gets the original that he wanted.

Both Dilana and Toby fight for "Every Breath You Take". Toby interviews that he didn't really want the song; he just wanted a little bit of payback for last week when Dilana made him run around naked for the song with Gilby. She reciprocates and runs around the pool naked. She says she did it because she's "tough, and I have a hot body. For a midget." HA!

Dilana says that she picked her song because it's her mom's favorite, and she thinks that this will be best performance yet because she connects so much with the song. This leads to a cut of her practicing and trying to hit some falsetto note that sounds more like someone playing a flute with the air holes plugged up. Lukas and Toby can hear her from another room and think it's a dog howling.

In song rehearsal, Toby practices "Layla" and tries to change it up so that it sounds more like a Supernova track. Rafael looks impressed as he plays. Magni, who has the flu, sings "Smells Like Teen Spirit" but is hacking up a lung while he rehearses. Ryan's original song is "Back Of Your Car" (yay!), and you can tell he is annoying OB: House because he's micro-managing every aspect of their performance. He needs to chill a bit; OB: House is pretty much as good as it gets. He should trust them more. (Possibly, but after seeing how well doing an original worked for Zayra in terms of staying out of the bottom three/staying in the competition, perhaps obsessing over the minute details of a performance isn't the worst idea of the world. -Tammy)
