NOT ENOUGH TIME
(Recap by Tammy)

Rocker-in-training Dana Andrews became the fifth person eliminated on Rock Star: Supernova. The baby of the group may have made big strides during her time on the show, but, in the end, there just was not enough time for her to grow into the role of frontperson of the band.

The show kicks off with a return to the Rock Star stage for a recap of last night's show. Lukas Rossi's performance is highlighted as a mis-step, while back at the mansion Magni and the other rockers toast to 'one of the best performance nights ever', with the exception of Lukas, who looks a bit shell shocked at what happened that night on stage. Ryan Star notes that for the first three weeks he had his own struggles in the competition, and Lukas just happens to be getting a taste of it this week. Lukas, (sporting a new, flattened down do tonight) is angry with himself, and when Dave Navarro questions him, says that everyone has an off night and that he deserves to be in the bottom three, but that it will never happen again and that he has the skills to save his skin this week. Ryan is next asked by Dave why more rockers didn't fight for the chance to play with Tommy Lee, and Ryan struggles for an answer, and finally says that they didn't want to choose a song just because Tommy Lee was going to be playing along.

For the encore this week, Jason Newsted announces that there were several performances this week that were worthy but that one was just a little bit better than the others. The rockers are asked, grade-school style, to put up their hands if they thought they deserved the encore, and a reluctant few do as asked. (Ironically, Dana was the first to shoot her arm up. And Patrice and Toby followed suit a little later. So I guess we can add delusion to their mediocre performances. - Liza) The eventual encore recipient, Ryan, is practically forced to raise his hand by his fellow rockers. Aww, faux humility! How cute. After a commercial break to bring back the piano, Ryan does another powerful rendition of 'Losing My Religion'.

This week's bottom three had a few surprises for the audience, who could be heard gasping in shock as Toby Rand and Patrice Pike were announced to have been amongst the lowest vote getters last night. Joining them were Dana Andrews, Zayra Alvarez, and Jill Gioia.

First up in the bottom three is Jill, who chooses tonight to sing Heart's 'Alone', perhaps as a not so subtle wink to Gilby Clarke, who mentioned last week that playing for Heart, Ann Wilson never had to resort to the bumping and grinding tactics that Jill was taken to task for with her performance of 'Brown Sugar'. Jill makes a visible effort to tone down the oversinging that she was dinged for last night and gets a standing ovation from Supernova.

Brooke Burke then reveals that two of the rockers standing opted not to rehearse for their bottom three performance yesterday. Dana and Toby raise their hands as the guilty parties. Dana is next to hit the bottom three, and somewhat embarrassed, admits that she chose to spend the time at a spa instead of practicing. (And don't forget her tough girl tattoo - of a treble clef. Oooh. She's hard! - Liza) She chooses to sing The Animals' 'House of the Rising Sun'. The lack of rehearsal time is evident, and Dana struggles through the seemingly neverending song.

Once again Brooke does her fake-out with one of the rockers, as she nearly gives Toby heart failure before telling him to sit down. Zayra is told, to nearly everyone's surprise (including her own. Girlfriend was looking FIERCE tonight! You just knew based on her Addams Family makeup and outrageous get-up that she was fully expecting to put on a show tonight! - Liza), that she can join him as Patrice lands in the bottom three once again this week. Patrice pleads to the viewers at home that she's serious in her intent to front this band, and then launches into her song choice of Jeff Buckley's 'Eternal Life'. While Patrice evidentally did have the practice time that Dana did not, her performance is not much better.

The judges deliberate then tell Jill that she has redeemed herself this week, sending her back to join the others. Patrice and Dana remain. They indicate to Patrice that if the presence of Tommy Lee during her performance didn't elevate her in the votes, it's not a very good sign. Dana is told that while she has improved over the past few weeks, it simply isn't enough, and Tommy Lee lowers the hatchet on her dreams of fronting Supernova. She takes the news well, and Jason observes that she's showed a level of maturity beyond her years. Tommy Lee makes his usual 'there are no losers!' (except for the ones who lose, of course) speech, and Dana makes her way back to be consoled by the rockers.
