Melissa O'Neil:
First Female Canadian Idol!

Canadian Idol 3 came to a close with the crowning of the series' first female winner. Melissa O'Neil, 17, of Alberta won the title in what host Ben Mulroney called the closest vote in CI history. Rex Goudie, 19, of Newfoundland came in second.
O'Neil will have plenty of opportunities to capitalize on her winning. Her single, "Alive," has already hit radio stations across Canada, and she will soon begin work on her full-length album which is expected to hit shelves by December. The world certainly is her oyster.
