Meet Me In St. Louis! Uhh, No Thanks...

After moments of promise glimmered in the season opener of AI4, the second episode didn’t have much to offer. As the show rolled into St. Louis, the Idol theme music played and the sparkly new opening graphics rolled, but Mark McGrath was painfully absent. This episode also highlighted a frustrating trend emerging this fourth season. The judges are passing several sub-par people onto the Hollywood round, and then turning around and rejecting much better contestants.
zjeremy.jpg One such victim of poor judgment was Jeremy Wakefield who came to the auditions with his voice teacher, Angel Higgs (who did get passed onto the Hollywood round). Wakefield walked in the room, stylish and fun, with talent and stage presence to boot. The judges then made the mind boggling decision to cut him. Ridiculous.

This episode was probably the worst in Idol history, devoid of humor, excitement, and good judgement. Next week, the show heads to New Orleans. Here’s hoping that they kick it up a few notches.
